INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Choose the pumpkin life cycle worksheet that fits the age/level of your child. There are 3 options!

  2. Print the worksheet. There are colored and black and white versions.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Print and color the seed/sprout. Place into a plastic bag. Color the bottom 1/3 of the bag brown.

  2. Twist 4 green pipe cleaners together at the tips. Bend each away from each other to form an X. Trace leaf templates onto green construction paper. Cut out 4 of them. Twist onto the end of the pipe cleaners.

  3. Trace the flower template onto a yellow piece of construction paper. Cut it out and fold down the center of each petal. Draw design in center.

  4. Cut the top and bottom off of a paper plate. Rip orange construction paper into thin strips. Glue onto a the paper plate. Trim off the orange paper that hangs off the edge. Color brown one of the cut off pieces from the plate and glue to the top of the pumpkin for a stem. Do the same but with green for the leaf.

10. Paint the pumpkin life cycle.

  2. Acrylic washable paint

  3. Scissors

  5. Newspaper (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Print out the large pumpkin life cycle worksheet (Ages 3-4).

  2. Cut out the large box and the 6 parts of the life cycle. Set aside the small pumpkin life cycle pieces.

  3. Pour orange, yellow, light green, dark green, and brown paint onto newspaper or other paint palette.

  4. Encourage your child to dip their fingers into paint and swirl it onto the large pumpkin. Tell them they can mix the colors. They can also get it outside the lines of the pumpkin, because you’ll cut out the pumpkin later anyway.

  5. Let the pumpkin dry.

  6. Once dried, flip the painted pumpkin over and cut it out of the box. You can see the thick black lines showing through on the other side and can use them as a guide.

  7. Glue the pumpkin life cycle pieces onto the front of the pumpkin. Start at the top with seed. Follow this order going around clockwise:

    -seed

    -sprout

    -vine

    -flower

    -green pumpkin

    -orange pumpkin

My Final Thoughts
